Mentors are key to your success
We were not designed to walk through life alone. And though it can be hard to learn to trust someone with your inner-most thoughts and the reality of your past, freedom is found when we allow ourselves to be fully known and fully loved.
Vulnerability within your small group and with your mentor is your most impactful step.
As we look back over the past few years, one common thread stands out for those who truly thrived during their time at re:generation.
They developed a stable, trusting relationship with the mentor they invited to join them on their journey to freedom.
The mentor’s role is to point you to God, pray, encourage you, know you, listen to you, help you process through the steps, and provide biblical guidance. It is up to you, the participant, to secure a mentor.
Who will you invite on your journey?
What to look for in a mentor
- Be a committed Christian
- Be a member of a Christian church local to you, the participant
- Be the same gender as you, the participant
- Have biblical foundation for life
- Have a clear understanding of the Gospel
Qualities that are not required but could be helpful when considering mentor candidates include: someone you already know and trust, someone within an existing group already committed to helping you grow in your faith, or a person with previous recovery experience. Regardless of these traits, any mentor would still have to meet the five requirements listed above.
If you still have trouble finding a mentor, talk to your re:generation group leaders. They will help you brainstorm ideas and provide direction.

Want to volunteer to be a mentor?
Sometimes our participants don’t have healthy people in their lives that meet the qualifications as a mentor. When this happens, the coaches at re:gen jump into action to help pair them with just the right person.
We are actively seeking men and women at New Life Church willing to volunteer their time to walk beside a current re:generation participant on their journey to freedom in Christ.
